A little bit of everything: our recent finds

One of the best parts of reselling is never knowing what you’ll come home with. Here are ten real items we’ve recently sourced, all photographed by us. They show the mix of vintage kitchenware, electronics, paper collectibles, watches, sports cards, outdoor gear, hardware and accessories we’re willing to research.

These photos are a sourcing gallery, not a live shopping catalog. Some items may not yet be listed, and others may already have sold. We aren’t claiming everything pictured is currently available or has been tested or authenticated.

Silver Tiger Talkboy with a Home Alone 2 branded audio cassette

Tiger Talkboy and Home Alone 2 cassette

A nostalgic electronics find. The condition of the battery compartment and whether the tape functions would matter before listing it as working.

Art Deco cover of the 1929 Christmas Fashions of the Hour from Marshall Field and Company

1929 Marshall Field Christmas publication

An eye-catching old Chicago retail publication. Year, artwork, completeness and paper condition all warrant a closer look.

Illustrated Christmas 1921 issue of Marshall Field Fashions of the Hour

1921 Marshall Field Christmas publication

Another remarkable cover from the same title. Old paper items deserve careful inspection for missing pages, tears and loose bindings.

Tissot Seastar PR 516 day date automatic wristwatch showing wear

Tissot Seastar PR 516 watch

A vintage watch whose exact reference, originality, service history and working condition need careful research.

Four mushroom-decorated kitchen canisters, three with brown lids

Retro mushroom kitchen canisters

Bright kitchenware is fun to spot. Here we’d check for maker marks, chips, crazing, and whether every lid is included.

Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls Fleer Premier basketball card in a clear holder

Michael Jordan Fleer Premier card

A great example of why authenticity and card condition matter. The photograph alone doesn’t establish either one.

Pair of Bending Branches branded wooden paddles on a table

Bending Branches wood paddles

Outdoor equipment is another sourcing category. Dimensions, condition and packing difficulty can all determine resale practicality.

Black Wiremold FloorPort cover with instruction sheet and original packaging

Legrand Wiremold FloorPort cover

Even building components can be worth researching. An exact manufacturer part number and compatibility matter more than appearance.

Older chrome metal appliance with scratches and a raised side motif

Vintage chrome appliance

The maker and exact model aren’t yet verified. We would check stamps, controls and markings before identifying or pricing it.

Cream Coach-branded handbag with textured panels and front buckle pocket

Cream Coach-branded tote

Handbags require material and style research, wear checks and authentication. A visible brand logo alone doesn’t prove authenticity.

The lesson behind the variety

We bought these items for pennies on the dollar compared with what we believed they might be worth. But low purchase prices don’t automatically guarantee a profit. We still research exact models, note condition problems, check completed sales, and account for marketplace fees, packing, shipping and the time involved.

That’s what we like about garage sales, estate sales and thrift stores: the freedom to inspect an unexpected item and decide whether it fits our reselling business. The next great find doesn’t have to be in a category we normally shop.

As we source more, we’ll build on these photos with identification notes, real results when available and the stories of what made certain items worth investigating. For items actually available for purchase, visit our live shop rather than using this gallery as an inventory list.
