COLLECTION BUYING INQUIRIES · THE WEEKEND HUNT
Have a collection to sell? We’d love to hear about it.
We’re Jordan and Steph, the husband-and-wife resellers behind The Weekend Hunt. We buy selected secondhand items and collections when they’re a good fit for our business. If you’re downsizing, sorting through a collection, or considering selling some interesting pieces before donating them, feel free to get in touch.
We enjoy researching all sorts of categories, from vintage paper and music to collectibles, older electronics and unusual finds. We can’t buy everything, and we’re not a full-service estate liquidation or home cleanout company—but we’re happy to consider the right collection.
Start with a quick email
Send an overview and a few photos to hello@theweekendhunt.com. You don’t need to organize every item before contacting us.
To help us review: Tell us your city or ZIP code, the types of items, roughly how many pieces there are, your timeline, and any photos showing the collection and its condition. Please don’t send your full home address, ID, financial information, or sensitive estate paperwork in the first email.
What we’re interested in
- Books, vintage publications, paper collectibles and interesting editions
- Vinyl records, cassette tapes, CDs and other music-related collections
- Video games, consoles and gaming accessories
- Vintage toys, collectibles, sports memorabilia and seasonal items
- Cameras, older electronics and unusual equipment
- Vintage home goods, accessories and other items worth researching
That’s not a complete list. If you have something unusual, describe it and include a picture. You can also see the kinds of things we look for in our real recent finds gallery.
Where we buy collections
We’re based in the western Chicago suburbs. We primarily consider opportunities around Chicagoland and nearby areas of Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. For a suitable collection, we may consider traveling roughly up to 200 miles, and potentially farther when the items and logistics justify it. Every trip is evaluated individually; sending an inquiry doesn’t guarantee a visit or purchase.
How it works
- Tell us what you have. Send an email with general information and a few clear photos.
- We’ll review the opportunity. We may ask follow-up questions, request more pictures, or explain that it isn’t a match.
- Discuss a possible purchase. If there’s mutual interest, we’ll talk about the items, location and practical arrangements. Any proposed price is subject to agreement.
- Arrange details if we both agree. We’d verify that the seller has authority to sell and document any transaction as appropriate. No one is obligated to proceed just by emailing.
A quick word about pricing
Buying from a reseller can be convenient because the buyer takes on the work of sorting, researching, storing, photographing, listing and eventually selling the items. That also means a reseller’s offer will generally be lower than the total prices you might receive if you individually sold everything at retail. For particularly valuable pieces, consider sold-price research or an independent appraisal before accepting an offer.
What we don’t offer
We’re not advertising professional appraisals, estate-sale management, property cleanouts, junk removal or guaranteed purchases. We consider selected items and collections case by case. Legal ownership, any applicable requirements, item condition, logistics and price must be resolved before a transaction.
